Description
Are you starting a garden from scratch? Do you claim a lack of a “green thumb?” Does the thought of planning a garden give you fits of analysis paralysis? Fear not new and old school gardeners as BELL has an instructor for you! Join our Director of Gardens, Missy Hamilton for a down and dirty discussion of garden planning including finding the perfect spot, building raised beds versus in ground planting, choosing the best plants for your climate, understanding the best time to plant, what to plant with what (companion planting) and a chance to have (almost) all of your questions answered.
Missy Hamilton is our Director of Gardens and Programs. Missy is a Nashville Native who began her gardening journey at age 3. (Her parents never forgave her for “reorganizing” their patio garden.) She has a Master’s Degree in Sociology and is focused on developing programs for local students that encourage garden-based learning as well as overseeing the planting of our field rows, herb gardens, and raised beds. Missy is incredibly passionate about using BELL’s resources to teach work and life skills to adults and youth with disabilities. She invites you to BELL to learn more about garden planning, native plants, beneficial bugs, pollinators, companion planting, and the importance of school and community gardens. Missy can be contacted at missy@bellgardentn.org.
