DESCRIPTION:Breakfast Before Business is the chamber's quarterly informational/networking breakfast event. All are welcome!\n\n\n\nThis month we welcome Ann Thompson\, Director of Workforce Development for the State of Tennessee.\n\n\n\nAnn Thompson is the Director for Workforce Development with the State of Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development. In her role\, she oversees workforce initiatives within TNECD\, serves as a liaison between government departments\, and addresses workforce needs with recruitment and expansion projects. In addition\, Thompson developed Workforce360 \, a multi-departmental initiative aimed to make Tennessee the best aligned state in the nation between workforce\, education\, and industry. She is actively involved with TN Promise Pathways to Prosperity\, Tennessee STEM Council\, and Governor Bill Haslam's Drive to 55\, an education initiative to equip 55% of Tennesseans with a post-secondary credential by 2025.\n\n\n\nThompson has more than 10 years of experience in government relations\, university advancement\, and economic development.  She earned a BA in Political Science from Miami University of Ohio and her MBA from Western Carolina University. Thompson currently resides in Nashville\, Tennessee with her husband\, Ben and 2 young sons.\n\n\n\nAnn's presentation will focus on state resources for workforce and small businesses in our area\, as well as an economic development update for the Nashville area.
