Cressman is Tennessee's Small Business Advocate working under the Tennessee Comptroller of the Treasury.  John answers questions and provides information to Tennessee's small business owners.  He also helps resolve issues by serving as an informal mediator between small business owners and state agencies. \n\n\n\nPrior to joining the Comptroller's Office in 2019\, John served as legislative liaison and department counsel for the Tennessee Department of Veterans Services.  He was also an intern with Tennessee Supreme Court Justice Roger A. Page.  Additionally\, John has worked on various campaigns in Tennessee and Virginia\, and he served as a Tennessee general Assembly staff member. \n\n\n\nJohn is a graduate of Union University in Jackson\, Tennessee and holds a Juris Doctor from Washington and Lee University School of Law in Lexington\, Virginia. He attends Covenant Presbyterian Church in Nashville and is a member of the Washington and Lee University Nashville Alumni Chapter.
